ABOUT EASY-CONVERTERS.COM

A practical file converter, built to be honest

Easy-Converters.com is an independent, self-hosted file conversion service. It exists for a simple reason: turning a document into a PDF should not require an account, a subscription, or uploading private files to an unknown conversion API.

Why this service exists

Most online converters are built to capture attention, sell a subscription, or push files through a third-party API. The result is often a slow upload, a forced sign-up, and very little information about what happens to the file. We wanted a smaller and clearer alternative: choose a file, see only the outputs the server can actually produce, and download the result.

The service is intentionally narrow. It does not claim to open every format, rebuild every document, or replace professional desktop software. It does one job well: run a defined set of file conversions with local open-source tools and clear limits.

How the service is built

The application is a Laravel service backed by a private queue. Uploads are validated before a conversion tool runs: the extension, detected file type, file signature, and container structure must agree. A job is then processed in a private working directory with a time limit. The finished file is checked again before it is offered for download.

Conversion is performed on the same server that hosts this page, using tools such as LibreOffice, DjVuLibre, Ghostscript, and MuPDF. Files are not submitted to a paid conversion API or an external conversion service. Depending on the route, office documents, PDFs, DjVu files, or XPS files are handled by the engine that fits the job.

The source file is removed after processing. The result is available through a temporary, high-entropy link for 1 hour(s), then deleted automatically. There are no user accounts, so access is controlled by that link rather than by a login. Do not upload credentials, identity documents, medical records, or other highly sensitive material.

What we will not pretend to do

PDF is a fixed-layout format. Rebuilding an editable Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file from an arbitrary PDF is unreliable with the tools available here, and a bad result is worse than a clear answer. PDF to Word, PDF to Excel, and PDF to PowerPoint are therefore marked Not offered.

The same principle applies to AutoCAD DWG/DXF, iWork, and Microsoft Publisher. A converter that silently damages a drawing or loses a page layout is not a useful service. Those formats are listed on the tools page so visitors can see the status and the reason, but they do not pretend to be available.

How new tools are added

A new route is never published because it looks possible. It is added only after a real sample has passed through the complete workflow on this server: upload, validation, queue, conversion, output inspection, and download. Until then, the tool is marked Coming soon, does not show an upload form, and is excluded from search results.

The all tools directory and the formats page are generated from the live server state. They show what is enabled right now, not a marketing list of every conversion the software could theoretically perform.

Privacy and communication

The privacy notice describes file retention, access tokens, contact messages, server logs, and the use of Google Analytics. The service does not show advertising scripts on the public pages today. Contact messages are stored in the application database and reviewed by the operator; they are not sent to a marketing platform.

If a file fails, the site shows a safe error message rather than an internal path or stack trace. If you need a route that is not listed, the contact page is the right place to describe the source application and the output you need.

Our commitments

  • No false format claims. A route is advertised only after it is tested.
  • No account requirement. The converter works without registration.
  • No third-party conversion API. Files are processed on this server.
  • Clear limits. File size, retention, and expected changes are documented.
  • Temporary results. Output files expire and are cleaned up automatically.
  • Honest failure. Unsupported or unreliable conversions are disabled on purpose.
